AMI Big50 ex-SA ETF

The 2020 year finally come to an end. Most economies are still on a lockdown, ahead of the festive season. Consumer spending is expected to be subdued due to the lockdown levels, despite approved vaccines. Global government seeks to get wide spread vaccine distribution, as vaccines are proven to up 95% effective. Africa is yet to receive any vaccine, the patchy recovery in emerging markets has seen the commodities sector boost, whilst your banks and retail sectors still grapple with effects of the pandemic. Africa’s economies have somewhat recovered with Nigeria, Ghana recovering well. AMIB50 which tracks Africa’s top 50 has kept modest gains with the currency hedge and the weaker dollar. AMIB50 is trading at R8.20.

AMI Real Estate ex-SA ETF

The real estate market has seen some light as governments eased restriction ahead of the holiday season, with most economies allowing interregional travel to help sustain the sector which suffered a 30% loss due to Coronavirus pandemic. The “New Normal” work mode has been adopted with many working remotely and has seen the Retail property market still down Y.T.D of -20%. Cloud Atlas Investing’s Real Estate fund is currently under repurpose to make way for Cloud Atlas African Fixed Income (AFICA) a new fund which tracks S&P’s Sovereign Government Debt Select Index, with most African economies being timely when it come to their bond repayments, the AFICA fund is set to offer investors predictable interest returns. AFICA is set to launch 2nd quarter of 2021 and will be inward listed for Retail and Institutional investors, AMIRE which tracks Africa property market is trading at R19.20
